    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks headed for a rebound at Tuesday's opening as investors went in search for beaten-down shares after Monday's losses, while renewed hopes for the auto industry tempered worry about the recession.
  • GE sees fourth-quarter earnings at low end of range
    BOSTON (Reuters) - General Electric Co expects to report a fourth-quarter profit of 50 cents to 52 cents per share, at the low end of its prior guidance of 50 cents to 65 cents per share, the U.S. conglomerate said on Tuesday.
  • Bargain-hunters fail to save retail sales
    CHICAGO (Reuters) - Bargain-hunting holiday shoppers did not save U.S. retail sales in November, which will likely represent a second straight month of declines for the industry.
  • Goldman shares fall on fear of $2 billion fourth-quarter loss
    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs Group Inc shares fell Tuesday on speculation the bank's fourth-quarter loss could be much larger than expected -- as much as $2 billion -- fueled by the plunging value of many Goldman investments.
  • Staples posts higher-than-expected profit
    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Staples , the world's largest office products retailer, posted a higher-than-expected third-quarter profit, helped by higher sales from the acquisition of Dutch peer, Corporate Express.
