Sean Avery was suspended indefinitely for crude off-the-ice comments about his ex. But when it comes to words and thoughts and morality in pro sports, whose rules apply? Who are we protecting, exactly?
Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville, who won 85 games and one SEC championship in 10 seasons, won't return as the Tigers' coach in 2009, multiple sources close to the situation confirmed on Wednesday.
Greg Oden is starting slowly. Have patience! Derrick Rose is playing like a star.
Have mercy! Ken Berger says the past two No. 1 picks are eliciting different
reactions as rookies.
Good Jets go on the road and spank the Titans. Bad Jets come home and give it up to the Broncos. Pete Prisco and Clark Judge aren't inclined to give them a mulligan, plus look at the Cards and Cowboys.
Sean Avery wasn't doing any good for the underachieving Stars before
his latest outrage, so Wes Goldstein says they should take the dressing
room irritant's league suspension as a sign and cut him loose, no matter the cost.
In yet another attempt to keep himself in the spotlight,
Sean Avery directs a crude comment at his former flames and their current beaus. But
he loses his only platform by getting suspended -- and he proves that there are
things even the NHL won't tolerate, Ray Ratto says.
Tommy Tuberville stepped down as coach at Auburn on Wednesday, following a disappointing season that culminated in the Tigers' first loss to Alabama in seven years. Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com confirmed the news earlier in the day.
Auburn is again looking for a coach who can lead the program to its rightful place in college football. Dennis Dodd has just the guy: Tommy Tuberville. Oh, wait a second ... that's who the school misguidedly got rid of Wednesday.
