This is a community fund raisers with the proceeds benefit our local food closet and elsewhere. This evening will include a Hearty home-cooked meal features: Soup, bread, and beverage. A handmade ceramic bowl, made & donated by local potters, is yours to keep 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Diamond Springs Lions Hall, corner of Missouri Flat Road and Pleasant Valley Road Placerville Suggested Donation: $15 - 50 per person (keep the bowl as a reminder that hunger exists in our community and around the world) Children under 10 are Free (Those admitted free will receive a meal, but no keepsake bowl)

As common as lightning is, it still sparks considerable confusion among scientists. Many of the basics are understood, but researchers admit they don't really understand how lightning gets from there to here. And they're totally baffled by lightning's link to X-rays, a discovery made back in 2001.
