  • 2008 awards: Too many top players, not enough winners
Dustin Pedroia? MVP. Albert Pujols? Ditto. Cy Young award? It's not CC Sabathia. Or Johan Santana. Sorry, Mike Scioscia, no Manager of the Year Award for you. Baffled? Scott Miller explains all in his 2008 MLB Awards.
  • Power Rankings: How do you spell unbeaten? D-E-F-E-N-S-E
The Giants, Titans and Bills have more in common than their perfect records. They all get after the QB, stop opponents from scoring and overall play the kind of defense that is ruling the NFL, Pete Prisco says.
  • Top 50: Zetterberg's the complete package, just hitting prime
They took a chance on him with the 210th pick in 1999, but what a deal it turned out to be for the Detroit Red Wings. Henrik Zetterberg is at the peak of his career and Wes Goldstein puts him at the top of his 50 best players in the league.
  • Top 50: Kobe or not Kobe? That is the first question ...
Basketball is a big man's game, but you don't need to be a 7-footer to have a giant impact. The NBA's three kings don't play with their backs to the hoop, Matt Steinmetz says in his Top 50 rankings.
  • Raiders ax Kiffin
The Oakland Raiders fired Lane Kiffin on Tuesday just four games into his second season, ending a public feud with owner Al Davis that had been simmering since the start of the year.
  • Promote Cable
The Oakland Raiders have promoted offensive line coach Tom Cable to interim head coach.
  • Prisco
Getting a pink slip is awful -- unless it relieves you from coaching the Silver and Black. Being free of ruthless, incompetent Al Davis is something Lane Kiffin should celebrate, Pete Prisco says.
  • Judge
With his firing of Lane Kiffin, Al Davis makes it even tougher to one day land the coach who can turn the Raiders around. Why? Nobody in his right might would want this job, Clark Judge says.
