MSNBC.com: Weather
  • Deadly storm hits New Hampshire
Severe thunderstorms and a possible tornado tore into New Hampshire on Thursday, killing at least one person and leaving an unidentified number trapped in homes.
  • South Texas starts post-storm cleanup

Michael Young surveys damage Thursday caused by Hurricane Dolly in South Padre Island, Texas, one day after the storm made landfall.Residents across south Texas and in northern Mexico slogged through knee-deep muddy waters, tiptoed around downed power lines and dug through debris Thursday, but were thankful that Hurricane Dolly was not as powerful as they had feared.

  • Even after Hurricane Katrina, many won't leave

Businesses are still empty shells in Chalmette, La. in this May file photo. Nearly three years after Hurricane Katrina, shifting demographics and the loss of community touchstones have rendered tight-knit St. Bernard Parish almost unrecognizable to those who cherished life here before the storm. Nearly one-fourth of people in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina would refuse to evacuate for a storm if told to, a survey released Wednesday by Harvard University found.

  • Only 33 wildfires still burning in Calif.
Cool, moist weather and steady attacks by firefighters have brought the number of wildfires still burning in Northern California dramatically down.
  • Iowa hit with 100 mph winds, outages
A line of thunderstorms battered Iowa with winds of up to 100 mph early Monday, knocking down trees and power lines and blacking out more than 200,000 homes and businesses.
  • Tropical storm floods southern Taiwan

Taiwanese residents walk through a flooded street after Tropical storm Kalmaegi struck the area, in Gangshan, Kaohsiung County, Taiwan, Friday, July 18, 2008. Tropical storm Kalmaegi lashed southern Taiwan with torrential rains Friday, triggering flash floods and landslides. Rampaging waters killed at least seven people and washed six others away.
