The Little Search Engine That Could - |
El Dorado County’s premier community web portal reaches traffic milestone.
Shingle Springs, CA June 29, 2006 -- With just over 3 years exposure under their belt, the little local search directory ElDoradoGuide.com has reached a major milestone in page views. Their goal for this quarter was to reach the 500,000 page views per month. In May, they surpassed that goal with over 650,000 pages.
The site was created due to the abundance of agriculture based businesses, which El Dorado County is so heavily reliant on. While the local agriculture businesses wanted an internet presence, they didn’t want to market nationwide. The true goal was to reach a local market, and the big search engines weren’t capable of that type of targeted search at the time.
The demand was met when the creators of http://www.ElDoradoGuide.com started with a simple directory of local websites. Requests quickly started rolling in from the public regarding what they’d like to see more of. One of the requested features was the Enhanced Listings, which allow businesses without websites to be included, and found on the Internet. In time, the visitors to the website began to dictate the shape that the site would eventually take. Soon, the little local search engine blossomed into a full blown community portal which now includes local news sources, weather, events calendar, dining guide, real estate & rentals.
“We’ve got some very exciting additions in the works” says Foothill Guides President Noah Schwartzman. Those additions promise to help skyrocket the reach of the community website.
So, what’s the next milestone? The team over at ElDoradoGuide.com couldn’t put a finger on it, as they were still in celebration of this one. “We’ve been averaging over 80,000 unique visits per month” explains Account Manager Reina Arrostuto, “I’d really like to see that hit 100,000 per month”.
